Local business wins two national awards from
Ordnance Survey

Local family business Dome has won two prestigious awards and has been recognised for their achievement by national map maker Ordnance Survey.

Dome, of Pannells Court in Guildford, is one of the country’s leading suppliers of mapping and map services and won two out of five awards at the Ordnance Survey Mapping and Data Centre conference.

Ordnance Survey’s Director General and Chief Executive Vanessa Lawrence CB, who also lives in Guildford, said: “I am delighted to recognise the achievements of the team at Dome, who have made huge progress in developing their Ordnance Survey business. They have created an extremely user-friendly website and have undertaken extensive promotion of Ordnance Survey licences for professional users.”

Kevin Madder-Smith, owner of Dome, which stands for Drawing Office Materials and Equipment, commented: “We are delighted to receive these awards from Ordnance Survey and pleased to be recognised for the efforts which we have made. Our business has developed and along with supplying the full range of paper maps and planning permission maps, we also provide digital map data services, allowing customers to use mapping electronically for a wide range of purposes, including site plans and building development.”

Kevin continued: “As one of Guildford’s oldest family businesses, we are proud of our exceptional levels of customer service and deliver a fantastically friendly service for all our customers. From walking and exploring maps right through to highly detailed mapping for planning applications and digital mapping data, we can provide just about anything a customer might need and are always on hand to explain the various mapping options.”
